What does an automation fitter do?

Automation fitters often work as part of a team, mainly putting their manual skills to use. Depending on the focus and company, they perform a variety of different tasks.

They fit and wire assemblies and switch cabinets for electrical machines, systems and appliances. They perform functional inspections, locate faults and eliminate them. They do so using modern testing and measurement equipment. They manufacture electrical coils and windings on special machines, install these coils and windings in motors, and perform test runs.

They read the necessary data from technical drawings and diagrams. Automation fitters are also involved in repair and maintenance.
