Industrial wastewater treatment plants
Over 50,000 tonnes of Swiss potatoes are processed byFrigemo AG per year into fries, rösti and other potato specialities. Wastewater containing different types of pollutants is produced in the process. This 400,000 m³ of organically or minerally polluted wastewater is treated in the company’s own wastewater treatment plant. As the existing plant no longer met the requirements and demands of environmental protection, safety and performance, it was replaced by a new building. The core of one of the most modern industrial wastewater treatment plants with anaerobic pre-stage for Biogas production was designed and installed by Bouygues E&S Prozessautomation AG: Control and instrumentation technology.
The control system monitors and regulates the whole wastewater treatment process, down to the receiving water using a programmable logic controller (PLC) and a higher level process control system (PCS). Thanks to the standardised procedure, as well as intensive in-house tests on the Bouygues test system, the commissioning was fast and problem-free.
